Masters Level Clinical Intern

Hi! I’m Emma Hofman, a Master’s Level Clinical Intern and currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Western Theological Seminary. I work with adolescents and adults (13+) and especially enjoy walking alongside young adults and individuals navigating difficult life transitions, identity development, and seasons of uncertainty or change. I am passionate about helping clients cultivate greater self-awareness and understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that shape their experiences.

My approach is grounded in warmth, curiosity, and collaboration. I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of meaningful change, and I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, safe, and supported.

I draw from person-centered approaches while incorporating ideas from attachment theory, polyvagal theory, and somatic work to help clients better understand themselves, strengthen relationships, and move toward healing and growth in ways that feel meaningful and sustainable.

I also serve as Leadlight’s Intake Coordinator and am often one of the first points of contact for clients reaching out for care. I approach each interaction with thoughtfulness and respect, knowing that beginning therapy can feel vulnerable and deeply personal.

With a background in community mental health administration, I value both compassionate care and creating environments where clients feel supported from the very beginning.

Working as an intern means you get the benefit of a whole team. I receive weekly collaborative supervision from the Holland South Site Supervisor along with ongoing input from Leadlight’s experienced Adult and Couples clinicians — so while you’re meeting with me, you’re really getting the wisdom of a full clinical team behind the work. To help expand access to care across West Michigan, I accept Medicaid and offer a highly reduced intern rate.
