For Medicaid Clients
Options for Care at Leadlight
We’re committed to expanding access to therapy for clients with Medicaid. Depending on your insurance plan and current availability, you may be able to receive care from a licensed clinician or one of our clinical interns.
Licensed Clinicians
All of our licensed clinicians accept Medicaid. Because each clinician has a limited number of spots available for Medicaid clients, availability may vary.
Clinical Interns
Our clinical interns also provide therapy to Medicaid clients under the supervision of experienced, licensed clinicians.
When you reach out, our admin team will check availability across our team — including openings with our clinical interns — and let you know the soonest options available.
Private Pay Options
Flexible Options for Paying for Therapy
You can choose to pay for therapy privately if you don’t have insurance, prefer not to use insurance, or have an insurance plan we don’t participate with.
Reduced-rate options may also be available with some of our licensed clinicians, depending on availability.
Licensed Clinicians
Private pay and reduced-rate options are available with our licensed clinicians. Please inquire for more information.
Clinical Interns
Our clinical interns offer therapy at a reduced private-pay rate of $40 per session. We recognize that even reduced-rate care may not be affordable for everyone, and additional fee flexibility may be available. Please reach out to learn more.
Our clinical interns are graduate-level therapists who provide care under the supervision of experienced, licensed clinicians.
Understanding Your Insurance
A Few Terms That Can Help You Understand Your Costs
Insurance can be confusing, and every plan is different. Understanding a few common terms can help you know what to look for when reviewing your benefits and what may affect the cost of your sessions.
For the most accurate information about your specific benefits and coverage, call the member services number on the back of your insurance card.
Information about insurance benefits is an estimate and does not guarantee coverage or payment. Your insurance company determines your benefits and financial responsibility when claims are processed.
Common Insurance Terms
Deductible
The amount you may need to pay for covered healthcare services before your insurance begins sharing the cost. Some plans have separate deductibles or cover certain services before the deductible is met.
Coinsurance
The percentage of the cost of a covered service that you are responsible for paying. For example, if your plan has 20% coinsurance, you may be responsible for 20% of the allowed cost after any applicable deductible has been met.
Copay
A fixed amount you pay for a covered service. For example, your plan may require a $30 copay for each therapy session.
Out-of-Pocket Maximum
The most you’ll pay for covered, in-network services during a plan year. After you reach this amount, your insurance generally pays 100% of covered, in-network services for the remainder of that plan year.
Supervisory Billing
Some insurance plans allow services provided by a clinician working under supervision to be billed under their licensed supervisor. This means the name of the provider listed on your insurance claim or Explanation of Benefits (EOB) may be different from the clinician you see for therapy. Your care is still provided by your therapist, with oversight from their licensed supervisor.
In-Network
A provider who participates with your insurance plan or network. Because participation can vary by clinician, being in-network with Leadlight does not necessarily mean every Leadlight clinician participates with your plan.
Explanation of Benefits (EOB)
The amount your insurance plan recognizes for a covered service. Your deductible, copay, or coinsurance may be calculated based on this amount rather than the provider’s standard fee.
Allowed Amount
A statement from your insurance company showing how a claim was processed, including what was billed, what your insurance covered, and what amount you may be responsible for. An EOB is not a bill.
More Information to Know
When Deductibles Reset
Most plans reset in January, but some reset at a different time depending on your plan’s start date. It’s important to know when your deductible resets — once it does, you will again be responsible for paying the full contracted rate until your new deductible is met.
If this change affects your ability to continue at your current session frequency, please discuss it directly with your clinician so we can plan accordingly.
What Will Therapy Cost?
Your Cost Depends on your Insurance Plan.
When you use insurance for therapy, your out-of-pocket cost depends on the benefits of your specific plan. Depending on your coverage, you may be responsible for a copay, coinsurance, deductible, or another portion of the cost of your session.
Because insurance plans vary, we encourage you to contact your insurance company before beginning services if you’d like to understand your expected costs. The member services number on the back of your insurance card is the best place to ask about your mental or behavioral health benefits.
