Katie Anderson, LLMSW

Therapist

Hi, I’m Katie! I work with children ages 8 and up, adolescents, and young adults. I specialize in supporting clients experiencing anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma, behavioral concerns, school-related challenges, social-emotional skill development, self-esteem and body image concerns, and working with individuals on the autism spectrum (ASD). I also provide affirming, inclusive care for LGBTQIA+ clients.

Having worked in school settings for several years, I enjoy partnering with children and families as they navigate educational and developmental challenges. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and strengths-based, with a focus on helping clients feel safe, seen, and supported while building practical, real-life skills they can use at home, school, and beyond.

Ages I work with

  • Children & Adolescents, 8+, Individual Adults

I specialize in working with children experiencing Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), supporting both the child and their caregivers through the complexities of feeding challenges. My approach is especially attuned to children whose ARFID presents alongside OCD, anxiety, or neurodivergence, allowing for thoughtful, individualized care. As part of Leadlight, I collaborate with a dedicated ARFID consultation team to ensure high-quality, informed, and consistent support for every family I work with.

I also specialize in supporting adolescents and young adults experiencing eating disorders, including restrictive eating patterns and binge-purge presentations such as bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. I work with clients navigating the physical, emotional, and relational dimensions of disordered eating — helping them develop a healthier relationship with food, their bodies, and themselves. My approach is compassionate and non-judgmental, recognizing that recovery looks different for every person and that lasting change comes from feeling safe, supported, and genuinely understood.

I believe therapy should feel like a safe and supportive space where clients can be themselves, grow in confidence, and develop tools to manage life’s challenges. Sessions may involve talking things through, learning through play or activities, or simply having a consistent space where clients feel understood and accepted. My approach is flexible and individualized, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, activity- and play-based interventions, and somatic work.

It is an honor to walk alongside youth and families in this process. Throughout therapy, I strive to be a steady advocate, supportive guide, and source of encouragement—helping clients feel empowered as they work toward healing, growth, and their personal goals.
