Nikki Schmitt, LLMSW
Therapist
Hi, I’m Nikki! I work with children and adolescents ages 3-17 as well as their caregivers. I am especially passionate about supporting early childhood development and partnering with parents throughout the therapy process. I specialize in helping clients navigate challenges related to PTSD, foster care and adoption experiences, grief, anxiety, ADHD, and autism. My goal is to create a space where every child feels safe, understood, and accepted for who they are. I take a patient, compassionate approach that is tailored to each individual’s strengths, needs, and experiences. I believe caregivers play an important role in a child’s growth and well-being, so I am intentional about working together to support progress both inside and outside of sessions.
Ages I work with
- Children 3-17
Using a child-centered, neurodiversity-affirming approach, I incorporate play therapy, art, and other creative interventions to help children express themselves, process difficult experiences, and develop new skills in ways that feel natural and engaging. I also incorporate evidence-based approaches like trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and motivational interviewing. I love helping kids better understand themselves, build upon the strengths they already have, and grow in confidence as they learn ways to navigate life’s challenges.
Whether your child has experienced trauma, is having a hard time managing big emotions, or could simply use some extra support, I’d be honored to walk alongside your family. My hope is that every child who walks into my office feels accepted, caregivers feel empowered, and families can grow stronger together.
