Individual Recovery Counseling

You may know that something needs to change, even if you are not yet sure what that change should look like.

Individual recovery services provide a confidential place to explore your relationship with alcohol or other substances, understand the factors contributing to your use, and develop a realistic path forward. You do not need to identify as having an addiction or be fully committed to sobriety before beginning therapy.

Therapy is individualized to your needs and goals. Together, you and your clinician may explore patterns of use, triggers, coping strategies, relationships, relapse prevention, and the kind of life you want to build moving forward.

Our clinicians work with individuals at many different points in the recovery process, including those who are:

  • Beginning to question their substance use
  • Trying to reduce or stop using
  • Returning to recovery after a setback
  • Maintaining long-term recovery
  • Rebuilding relationships, routines, and trust
  • Navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or other concerns alongside substance use

How Is Child and Adolescent Therapy Different?

Child and adolescent therapy is a specialized area of mental health care. While traditional talk therapy can work well for adults, children and teens often need developmentally appropriate ways to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

Effective therapy for young people requires specific training and supervised experience working with children and adolescents. At Leadlight Counseling, our clinicians have extensive experience supporting kids, teens, and families facing a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges.

Through therapy, children and teens can learn to better understand their emotions, build healthy coping skills, improve communication, and develop the resilience needed to navigate life’s challenges.

Early Intervention

Not everyone who seeks support meets the criteria for a substance use disorder.

Early intervention may be appropriate when alcohol or other substance use has begun to create concerns but has not yet caused significant disruption. Counseling can help you recognize patterns, understand risks, strengthen coping skills, and make intentional decisions before the problem becomes more serious.

Substance Use Assessments & Treatment Planning

A substance use assessment can help clarify what level of support may be appropriate.

Following an assessment, your clinician will discuss their findings and recommendations with you. Recommendations may include individual counseling, community recovery resources, education, group support, or referral to a more intensive level of treatment when needed.

Our goal is not simply to assign a label. It is to help you understand what is happening and identify a path forward that is clinically appropriate, practical, and responsive to your circumstances.

What to Expect

At Leadlight Counseling, we know that every child and family has a unique story. Our therapists work collaboratively with parents and children to understand your concerns, identify goals, and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your child’s needs.

Therapy looks different depending on a child’s age and developmental stage. For younger children, sessions often include play-based activities that help them express emotions and process experiences in ways that feel natural and engaging. With teens, therapy may include conversation, skill-building, and structured interventions that help them better understand their emotions and develop healthy coping strategies.

Parent involvement is an important part of the process. We offer parent check-ins and sessions to help you better understand your child’s needs and to provide guidance on how to support them outside of therapy.

Our goal is to create a safe, encouraging environment where children and teens can build confidence, develop resilience, and feel more equipped to navigate life’s challenges.
