Individual Therapy for Family Members and Loved Ones
Individual counseling offers a private space to process the ways another person’s substance use has affected you.
The focus of your therapy is not on changing or managing the person with the addiction. It is on helping you find clarity, support, and a healthier way of moving through a profoundly difficult experience.
Therapy may help you:
- Understand addiction and its impact on relationships
- Identify patterns that have developed within the family system
- Establish and maintain healthy boundaries
- Work through guilt, anger, grief, fear, or resentment
- Respond to crises without losing sight of your own wellbeing
- Rebuild trust in yourself and your decisions
- Determine what is and is not within your control
- Care for yourself while remaining connected to someone you love
Through the therapeutic process, individuals can benefit in numerous ways.
They can gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their patterns of behavior, and the underlying causes of their challenges. Therapy provides a safe and nonjudgmental space for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings, fostering a sense of validation and acceptance.
It allows them to develop coping strategies and acquire tools to navigate life’s challenges more effectively. Our counseling practice is rooted in the belief that people are more than just their symptoms; rather we seek to recognize their unique strengths, identities, and aspirations and limitations.
We place a high value on the therapeutic relationship, practicing from a deeply relational place, offering empathy, compassion, and unwavering support.
We will walk alongside clients with hope, guiding them towards healing, resilience, and a sense of empowerment.
Loved Ones of Addiction Group
Our Loved Ones of Addiction group is an ongoing support and psychoeducation group for family members, partners, and other loved ones affected by someone else’s addiction.
The group provides education, emotional support, and practical strategies for navigating the complex ways addiction affects a family system. Because it is ongoing and open to new members, participants can join when they are ready rather than waiting for a new group cycle to begin.
- Together, group members explore:
- Understanding addiction and its impact on the family
- Setting boundaries without guilt
- Coping with stress and uncertainty
- Receiving emotional support from others who understand
- Caring for yourself while caring about someone else
