Dave Maat MA, LPC
Dave believes deeply in the inherent worth, dignity, and value of every person. He is continually humbled by the trust clients place in him as they invite him into their stories — stories of pain, joy, loss, longing, and resilience. For Dave, therapy is not about fixing people, but about honoring the courage it takes to be honest and creating space where healing can begin.
Dave has experience working with individuals, couples, and families navigating a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relational conflict, divorce, substance use, and spiritual or religious harm. He has a particular sensitivity to those who have experienced spiritual abuse or religious trauma and strives to offer a space where clients feel safe to explore questions of faith, identity, and healing without pressure or judgment.
His work is grounded in a relational, person-centered, and narrative approach. Dave values walking alongside clients as they make meaning of their experiences, reconnect with themselves, and move toward the life they hope to live. He approaches therapy with humility, warmth, and curiosity, and is committed to ongoing learning as a way of better serving the people who trust him with their stories.
Dave currently serves clients in both private practice and college counseling settings. He welcomes people from all backgrounds and identities and works intentionally to create an environment where every client feels respected, seen, and supported.
