Michelle Andrews,
MA, LLC
Hi! I’m Michelle! I am a child, adolescent, and family therapist who completed my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I specialize in working with children ages 3 to 13 and their caregivers. I have over 14 years experience working with children in a variety of educational settings, preschool through middle school. My experiences teaching Kindergarten and 4th grade have especially equipped me with skills to help serve children struggling with school-related issues, ADHD, and developmental disabilities. I also lived overseas for many years and am passionate about working with multicultural populations, children in foster care, and children who have been adopted. My past experiences have also led me to have a passion for working with children and families who have experienced trauma and grief.
In my therapy room I seek to create a safe and trusting counseling relationship with both the child and the caregivers. I utilize play and art interventions to help teach coping skills to children. You will find that I also draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and attachment theory to help improve child and family mental health. I embrace that every child and family is unique and I adjust my approaches based on the child's developmental age and the family's specific needs.
While I have experience working with children and families of all faith beliefs (or non-belief), I am also able to incorporate Christian faith into sessions at a family’s request.
